About us

A Few Words About Me

I was born and raised in Winnipeg. In 2003, my husband and I moved to a lovely rural property amongst the pines and poplars where we can experience God glorious creation through nature in all four seasons. We are blessed with two beautiful children, and currently share our lives with three Labrador Retrievers so wonderful and loving. Then in June 2012, we welcomed Sassy into our hearts and home — a beautiful Lynx Point Siamese Cross kitten that we adopted from Rescue Siamese and Stray Cat Rescue. Less than a month later we adopted little Meezer from the same rescue — a darling Seal Point Siamese. Both kittens are such joys and turning out to be quite the supermodels extraordinaire! Together, as a family, we have our feet planted firmly in Christ, and share a passion for the outdoors. I am also passionate about growing in my faith and deepening my walk with God — but most of all, seeing others come into a saving relationship with Him. A favourite inspirational verse that always encourages my heart is found in Isaiah 40:31. It says: but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint. For me, these are words to live by, for my constant strength, encouragement and comfort has been our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ, and in the promises He has given us through His Word!

I have been involved with dogs — mainly purebreds — for over 30 years. As a child I was forever bringing home stray animals: cats, dogs even rescued and helped re-home injured birds. While I grew up with Yorkshire Terriers and a menagerie of goldfish, the love of my life for close to 16 years was a chocolate point Siamese named Tao. And it was my love of animals that prompted me over the years to work at a local riding stable and as a volunteer veterinary assistant. Since 1997, our family has owned and managed a hobby breeding kennel dedicated to producing sound Labradors of the highest quality for show, obedience, field and devoted family companions. At the present time I also enjoy competing with our dogs in the conformation ring. My education has been ongoing; over the years I learned a lot about animal behaviour, health, nutrition and training. I feel that this experience, combined with my unending amount of patience and skills in working with a variety of animals and their personalities, has enabled me to be a better pet photographer.

Just as animals have always been a big part of my life (two of our female black Labs looked on as Cflower girls while our 6 month-old chocolate pup stole the show as he led the wedding party up the isle at our wedding in 2002), the same holds true for photography. I was inspired to begin taking pictures at an early age, as I always had an eye for detail and possess a natural artistic talent. I picked up my first camera at age 10 — a family antique. I was later given a 35mm as a birthday gift. As a young teenager, I would often spend hours sitting in the bush at the family cottage waiting for a chickadee to land at a nearby feeder or a butterfly to settle on some wild flowers — just to capture the beauty of nature around me through the camera lens. I took my camera everywhere and photographed just about anything and everything. Over the years that converts to literally thousands of images, but careful editing has allowed me to select some of my favourites for inclusion on this website. I hope you enjoy them as much as I do!

After graduating from high school, I enrolled in the Advertising Art program at Red River College in Winnipeg where I perfected some of my photographic skills. In addition to photographing wildlife, landscapes and people of all ages, I am now creating pet portraits. It is, after all, what I love to do best; I enjoy both the challenges and rewards that photographing my animal subjects brings. I am thankful to my parents for helping me to believe in the gifts God has given me! And I am so thankful that the Lord saw fit to tie those gifts into this amazing opportunity of creating art through pet photography! My work has brought much joy to many pet owners and dog lovers alike. What started out as a co-worker commissioning me to photograph her beloved horse that she has since lost, has turned into a growing passion reflecting the loving bond between people and their pets. I welcome the opportunity to portray a lasting memory of your best friend today!

A few things we’re great at

Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, at mei dolore tritani repudiandae. In his nemore temporibus consequuntur, vim ad prima vivendum consetetur.

The Pre-Session Consultation

Upon receipt of your initial telephone call or inquiry submitted through the contact form, I will ask you to complete a written questionnaire to help me prepare for your session and learn more about your pet. I will then set up a date and time for us to meet for a pre-session consultation. Whether you have no idea what you want out of your creative photo session or already have poses in mind, I%u2019m here for you%u2026to listen to your ideas and desires and offer suggestions that are sure to capture the true essence of your pet in an unique and beautiful way — through a combination of playful, candid moments and varied posed shots. Your inspiration may come from the sample albums I make available for advance viewing, through our on-line gallery section, pictures you see in a magazine or thinking about what your pet really means to you, but either way, I will take many photographs and later present you with a variety of proofs from which you may choose your final prints and products.

The Portrait Session

I specialize in outdoor and on-location photographic sessions, and offer our beautifully treed property for that picturesque, country setting! With the abundance of evergreens, poplar, oaks and tall grasses, lush gardens, large rocks, pathways and pond, it makes for the ideal outdoor backdrop year round! Photo sessions can also take place in the comfort of your own home, yard, barn, at a show or favourite location such as a nearby park, colourful flower garden, cabin on the lake, windswept beach at sunset, historic farm site, snow-laden field, old country road or among the decorative lampposts and cobblestone sidewalks in the heart of Winnipeg%u2019s Exchange District — the possibilities are endless.

What To Wear

Should you and other family members decide to be photographed alongside your pet, I suggest you choose a more classic clothing style and wear bold colours such as black, khaki, beige, burgundy, blue and purple. Colours in medium shades work well in outdoor environments. Not only do you want to coordinate what you are wearing with each other (i.e. same tonal range), but it should compliment your pet as well.
